Decks can be so inviting. They can add so much to a home. It is a shame that most decks merely add flat square footage to walk on when they can be so lively and exciting. I enjoy designing decks but do it only on occasion. If you are interested in a deck for your specific space and would like my assistance contact me.

Building decks has always been fun and creative. I have done some for fun, but started out learning how to do the basics. The exercise in movement is worth the extra time and expense as can be seen here. A well designed deck offers a myriad of opportunities for the landscaper and plant enthusiast to highlight the space with accent colors and greenery, not to mention the handsome coverage of spaces where the grass won't grow due to the lack of whatever.

In the June 1982 edition of "Houston Home and Garden" a deck I designed and built was featured. It had five levels and had some real flare. Some of the same techniques have been used on this deck. I will include photos of the other deck later.
